FedEx Corp. (New York Stock Exchange stock code: FDX) is expected to experience the busiest day in FedEx's history on December 2nd this year, with over 22 million shipments expected to be transported globally on that day.
FedEx expects its global network to transport over 85 million shipments during the busiest week of the year, from December 1st to 7th, an increase of 13% compared to the same period last year.
FedEx Asia Pacific President Jian Lixing said, "In addition to e-commerce, retail products such as personal consumer electronics, clothing, and merchandise will drive the growth of FedEx holiday shipments, and the Asia Pacific region plays a significant role in manufacturing these products. With our global network and operational advantages in the Asia Pacific region, both small and large scale enterprises can benefit from our connectivity within the region, as well as with Europe and North America. This ensures that customers can succeed during this busy period of goods transportation."
Compared to traditional physical retail stores, e-commerce is growing rapidly around the world at a rate of 3 to 4 times. The Asia Pacific region is in a position in this regard, with e-commerce sales expected to grow by up to 23%, accounting for nearly one-third of global e-commerce sales, compared to other regions worldwide. With over 18000 dedicated employees in the FedEx Asia Pacific region and a range of comprehensive transportation solutions, FedEx is always ready to help customers seize business opportunities in the continuously growing online business.
FedEx will recruit tens of thousands of temporary employees to help handle the rapidly increasing holiday freight volume. The impact of the expected increase in freight volume has been included in the company's revenue guidance released in September this year.
