The large-scale public welfare project "Hand in Hand China Reading Tour" jointly initiated by FedEx and a non-profit organization in China has been successfully held nationwide from March to July this year. In order to allow more urban migrant children to experience the joy of reading, the new "Hand in Hand China Reading Tour" will be launched again from October 2013 to June 2014.
This time, FedEx will continue to work with schools for migrant children in five cities across the country, providing opportunities for children who lack reading resources and environment to accompany FedEx volunteers and enter local cities and communities, truly experiencing the historical and cultural imprints of each city. Through organizing interactive activities with a focus on reading, it will help them broaden their horizons, enhance their confidence and communication skills. During this project, volunteers from FedEx will participate in different themed book tours with children in five cities: Shanghai, Wuxi, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, including "City History", "Folk Art", "Architectural Style", "Community Service", and "Volunteer Sharing Meetings".
The first "Hand in Hand China Reading Tour" project carried out a series of volunteer activities in five cities across the country, including "real libraries", "university and university tours", "the power of technology", and "museum tours". Nearly 400 FedEx volunteers from all over the country have devoted their precious spare time to providing a platform for migrant children to understand urban society, with a cumulative service time of over 1300 hours.
